    A Study on Venpulli

    Get PDF
A number of drugs are available in the market, which have achieved improved efficacy and safety after incorporating the active agents in carrier systems. Therefore, putting new life into erstwhile discarded drug molecules by transforming them into novel formulations can serve as viable and cost effective alternative to the expensive and time consuming search of newer alternative drugs and therapies in Siddha systems of medicine. Efficacy of ‘SENKONRAI PATTAI KUDINNER with topical application of SENKONRAI PATTAI POOCHU was showed to various categories. Clinical outcomes showed moderate improvement in 15%, mild improvement in 75% and No improvement in 10% of children. There was no adverse events noticed in throughout the study and the experimental formulations were cost effective. The results are better in children. Body and lower limb lesions respond much quickly as compared to lesions in other parts of the body while lesions on joints have relatively lower response. During our study, senkonrai pattai kudineer and poochu didn’t show any adverse events as like Psoralen compounds, Placental extracts, Steroids (topical or systemic). In recent time, Sasthric traditional Siddha formulations, and a better knowledge of the physicochemical and phytochemical properties of herbs and formulations have led to the development of evaluated Siddha drug delivery systems that have the potential to re-invent the internal and topical treatments of Venpulli (vitiligo). There is hope and enthusiasm from this study that further research enhanced collaboration with dermatology researchers will bring this hitherto untapped potential to fruition

Objective: The present study was aimed to develop a rapid, specific and sensitive method based on high performance liquid chromatographic method was developed for the determination of telmisartan using indapamide as an internal standard. Methods: The utilization of single step protein precipitation method using methanol as a precipitating agent becomes suitable for analysis of a large number of samples. The developed method was validated as per US-FDA guidelines for telmisartan in human plasma.Result: An isocratic separation was achieved using Hibar C18 (250 x 4.6 mm, 5 μm) column using 10 mmol ammonium formate solution (pH 4.0)–methanol (70:30, v/v) as the mobile phase. Detection was carried out at 275 nm. The method was validated over the range of 0.1–1.5 µg/ml in human plasma with a regression analysis of 0.996. The percentage recovery of the present method was found to be 94.0–99.2 %.Conclusion: The developed analytical method was found to be rapid, single step, plasma preparation coupled with the simple high-performance liquid chromatography coupled with UV detection (HPLC–UV) isocratic chromatographic apparatus makes the method cost-effective and suitable for analysis of a large number of samples

Lead identification and optimization of novel collagenase inhibitors; pharmacophore and structure based studies

In this study, chemical feature based pharmacophore models of MMP-1, MMP-8 and MMP-13 inhibitors have been developed with the aid of HypoGen module within Catalyst program package. In MMP-1 and MMP-13, all the compounds in the training set mapped HBA and RA, while in MMP-8, the training set mapped HBA and HY. These features revealed responsibility for the high molecular bioactivity, and this is further used as a three dimensional query to screen the knowledge based designed molecules. These pharmacophore models for collagenases picked up some potent and novel inhibitors. Subsequently, docking studies were performed for the potent molecules and novel hits were suggested for further studies based on the docking score and active site interactions in MMP-1, MMP-8 and MMP-13

    Kurinchipattu - Historical Perspective

The historical problem of Tamil literature is still unresolved among many literary critics and is full of differences of opinion. Among them, the period of Sangam literature and the news of the Apuls are the most controversial. Various reports have been circulating by critics about Kapil, who has sung a number of Sangam songs and is notable for his fame. There are a number of issues with Kapilar's Kurinchipattu reference to it. The purpose of this article is to explore typography. It is noticeable that decimal texts are referred to Kurinchipattu as reference ciphers when they are segmented on a material basis. This is also the case with the description of the Pattuppaṭṭu when they are known in the order of the singers and the singers. The tagline is Kurinchipattu in the field of ‘Thozhi Arathodu Nittral

TO COMPARE THE EFFECTS OF SPRINT AND PLYOMETRIC TRAINING PROGRAM ON ANAEROBIC POWER AND AGILITY IN COLLEGIATE MALE FOOTBALL PLAYERS

    No full text
Background: Football is the world’s most popular game and is played by men, women and children of all ages and levels of ability. Success as a player requires an appropriate mixture of mental, physical, technical and tactical ability. Many decisive moments are defined by anaerobic activities such as sprinting, jumping & contests for the football. Agility is an ability of the neuromuscular system to coordinate explosive changes of direction of an individual and/or multiple body segments in all planes of motion. Plyometric Training has been advocated for sports that require the athletes to have explosive power and agility. Similarly previous sprint training studies have shown improvement in the dynamic athletic lower body performance. Advanced technique such as plyometric training protocol has proven more effective but not much studies have been done to assess its effectiveness over Plyometric Training, namely Lower Body Power and Agility Methods: A total of 30 collegiate football players were taken with a mean age of 21.5 with a standard deviation of one. They were randomized into two groups (Group A – Sprint Training & Group B – Plyometric Training). Each group consist of 15 players were selected based on their selection criteria. Informed consent was obtained from the subjects. The study was conducted for six weeks (12 sessions) with both the Groups. Evolution parameters are vertical jump height, 40 yard dash, illinois agility Test. Results: Independent t test was used to analysis data. On comparing VJH, Plyometric Training shows (49.26) which have the higher mean value is more effective than Sprint Training (44.93).On comparing Anaerobic power Plyometric Training shows (4150.8) which has the higher Mean value is more effective than Sprint Training (3782.4), on comparing 40 yard dash Plyometric Training shows (5.335) which has the lower Mean value is more effective than Sprint Training (5.490). Illinois Agility Test Plyometric Training shows (15.38) which have the lower mean value is more effective than Sprint Training (16.80). Conclusion: Superiority of Plyometric Training Group over Sprint Training Group is particularly evident for improvements in Anaerobic Power and Agility. These results suggest that Plyometric Training is advantageous for developing lower body Explosive Power and Agility. Explosive activities are required in many sports and physical activities; coaches and participants should therefore consider a Plyometrics training program that incorporates specific exercises according to the needs of individual’s athletic performance as part of the overall training program

Investigation of magnetic and structural properties of copper substituted barium ferrite powder particles via co-precipitation method

In this paper, it is proposed to synthesize copper-doped barium ferrite (BaCuxFe12−xO19) using co-precipitation technique at different ratios in order to increase the coercivity value which in turn increases the magnetic storage capacity of the copper-doped barium ferrite powder. This technique is very compactable with lower cost. This method was used to prepare different ratio (0–8%) of copper-doped barium ferrite samples exposed to sintering process under the temperature 1200 °C for 6 h because the base and doped materials are combined to form a new compound. The sintered compound is involved the XRD analysis and the obtained values are matched with the constant standards (a = b = 5.864 Å and c = 23.098 Å). Hence, the samples proved as hexagonal system. TGA/DTA used to establish selected characteristics of materials that exhibit decomposition and oxidation process. FT-IR spectroscopy used to confirm the chemical bonds and vibration mode of samples. Using beam of X-rays, XPS spectra obtained and the binding energy of the sample is measured. From the SEM analysis, the morphology and grain size of the copper-doped barium ferrite powder materials are found. The vibrating sample magnetometer measures the magnetic saturation, magnetic reminisce and coercivity of a sample. The magnetic saturation, magnetic remanence and coercivity values are found and tabulated. Keywords: Magnetic remanence, Magnetic saturation, Coercivity, Ferrit
